Density grades

Pieces denser than water sink ("sinking grade"); half-sinking and floating follow. Density rises with oil.

"Pinxiang" also weighs natural oil veins, colour, aroma purity and defects. Among sinking pieces, prettier veins and cleaner scent command more.

Sinking only indicates high oil, not authenticity—oil injection can fake it. Judge by smell, veins and burn test.
